This isn't exactly a typical Throw Back Thursday, but I have my reasons for this post today.

My Our Wedding Day!
Today is our 4th wedding anniversary. Luke and I aren't big anniversary people. Two days ago Luke sat next to me on the couch and said, "I don't know what to get you for our anniversary." I replied, "Since when do we get each other gifts for anything? I'm not getting you anything." And he said, "Well, if I get you something, then that means I get something." So thoughtful! Hehe! Maybe next year we will get each other something (yeah right)! I really think he was just testing to see if he needed to put something together at the last minute.
It is always fun to go through our wedding pictures. It seriously was one of my favorite days of my entire life. How often do you have all of the people that you love in the same room at the same time? How often can you have fun with all of those people? I had heard horror stories of brides and grooms not enjoying their special day, and I made it a priority to have fun. I didn't really care about having a gazillion flowers or having an ornate designer dress or having the most delicious cake or what song we danced to, what I cared about was having fun and spending those few hours together as it is our day (and also about having an open bar and live band). Call me selfish, but isn't the day about the bride and groom? I sure wouldn't want to be the one to prevent the newlyweds from enjoying their day together!
Luke and I had an early ceremony, at 1:30pm, at Immaculate Conception in New Orleans. What a beautiful church! Our reception followed from 3-6pm at the Astor Crowne Plaza. The whole purpose of an early event was so we could all go out and party on Bourbon Street afterward. That lasted until about 2:30am when I dragged Luke back to the hotel because we had a flight to catch for our honeymoon in St. Lucia at 5:30am (maybe tomorrow, I will reminisce about that). That made for one long day!!!! Here are some of my favorite pictures from our wedding:
I barely slept the night before, just like most brides except I had the help of Bourbon Street keeping me awake, and I had to be up and getting ready around 7am. |
my handsome dad :-) |
my 5 sisters and my bestest sorority sisters! |
I love this pic - I didn't know my dad held my train until I went through the pictures. |
This picture still blows my mind! New Orleans churches are spectacular! |
I love this picture because it has my dad and my mother-in-law in it :-) |
walking from the church to the reception - Lucky Dog, anyone?? |
I went out of my way to get an LSU garter for Luke :-) and then he didn't even notice it, I had to point it out to him! |
My dad ordered a bottle of Amaretto, so about 30 of us took a shot. |
I was forced to dance to "Don't Stop Believin'" - sooooo overplayed! |
My mother-in-law and mom dancing together :-) |
My dad playing his famous air guitar! |
My father-in-law taking a pretend picture of the camera - great picture! |
By this time (around 5pm), Luke had been given quite a bit of whiskey... getting down with his sister! |
Cooper LOVED the band! |
Luke was more concerned about his cup of Scotch getting streamers in it than holding my hand! |
I guess he does love me! (although, I'm shocked we didn't fall over!) |

RANDOM FACT:
I originally wanted to get married on July 11th (7-11, easy to remember), but a big swingers convention was that weekend in New Orleans, so I changed my mind.
Coincidentally,
Melanie and
Holly are hosting a wedding link-up today.
Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteThanks :-)
DeleteWishing you lots of love and happiness! June 20th was a way better choice and I totally second the live band and open bar! Everything else...just details :)

DeleteIt looks like such a fun wedding and you were a gorgeous bride! I also agree on the open bar. I was also insistent that I was going to eat and dance at my wedding. Both missions accomplished:)

Thanks :-) I didn't eat but I was fine with that since I had food waiting for me afterward (although Luke ate most of it) and I got to enjoy it dancing!
